23 Sandy Gallery "BUILT" Trunk Show
May 15, 2017 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
23 Sandy Gallery is pleased to present BUILT, an international juried exhibition of book and paper art examining the relationship between contemporary book art practices and architecture, engineering, landscape and construction as form, function and structure. Book artists took this opportunity to re-image the ways we as designers, of either books or buildings can inhabit and shape the world around us. Our disciplines have a natural synergy. After all, books and buildings are both kinetic, sequential, structural and time based. BUILT examines the relationship between the built and the book.
For this special hands-on Book Arts Guild event, Laura Russell will display a selection of books from BUILT, plus a few special books from regular gallery inventory. She will talk about the process of curating the exhibition and share a few stories behind the works before opening the evening up to a hands-on viewing of the books.
